Actress and Eco-Fashion Favorite, Emma Watson |
This growing demand of sustainable clothing has been noticed by the fashion world, with top designers putting out fashion-forward green clothing. Some of the hottest tickets in the frigid Big Apple this winter were to the eco-fashion collections at New York Fashion Week. Even such heavy fashion-players as Vogue Editor Anna Wintour took a front row during the showings of such renowned eco-fashion designers as Bodkin, Study by Tara St. James, Organic by John Patrick and Bono and Ali Hewson’s Edun collection. Reviewers of the collections declared, “Models were dressed to impress with sophisticated, wearable fall and winter silhouettes in sumptuous and sustainable fabrics.” Sustainable fashion has truly evolved into haute-couture, which was proven by the amount of press and public attention given to the green shows. Celebrities are also doing their part to build eco-fashion awareness and some are even contributing to sustainable clothing and green-accessories collections. Emma Watson is becoming an eco-favorite, both modeling for the eco-friendly fashion house, People Tree, and collaborating on their designs.
With all of the notice given to the high-fashion collections, it’s almost easy to forget sustainable clothing is also a favorite choice for casual wear. The pioneering green-clothing company, EcoChics Earthwear, just revealed their latest spring collection of organic cotton T’s, tunics, yoga wear, and jute-accessories to fashionable-acclaim. Co-founders Jessica Clay and Cathy Tiffany have long been at the forefront of everyday organic-clothing, offering irresistible designs at a reasonable price-point. The evolution of the green fashion industry is expected to continue, with sustainable clothing becoming a staple in a woman’s closet. Even if someone can’t afford high-fashion, they can purchase everyday pieces from companies like EcoChics Earthwear and plan a special seasonal splurge on a favorite piece from a green designer-collection. With so many great alternatives to green-clothing, everyone can do their part to sustain the earth while being stylish and looking eco-fabulous doing it.
